Wire Findings & Elements – Intermediate - $45.00 Class limit 5 students with a minimum of 2.
Get some wire, pull out your pliers and never buy a finding again. Yeah, you can do this. We will make all sorts of findings and elements commonly used in jewelry making. Not that the findings market will collapse with your new found skill, but now you can put that personal touch in all of your jewelry designs. Toggles, hooks, beads, and fun and fanciful elements are just a few of the pieces you will be making during class. Please bring your wire working plies; chain nose, round nose, and bent chain (if you have them) nose, for you will be working with them through out the class. |

Setting Up & Maintaining An Etsy Shop - A workshop I will be presenting for the Society for Midwest Metalsmiths at Maryville University. We will go through the actual steps of setting up your Etsy Shop. Talk about naming the shop, speaking the language of the web, the importance of photography and some hints, using the Etsy resources, and community. After talking about the basic setup we will move into maintaining the shop, keeping track of sales, promotion, and shipping. A notebook will be provided for each student with screen shots of the pages, check lists, and helpful online resources. |

These earrings have it all, texture, shape, movement, design. Let's have some metalsmithing fun while making two pair of earrings from a flat sheet of metal. You will be learning a lot of fabulous metalsmithing techniques in this class; cutting metal with a disc cutter and a saw, chasing design on metal, and texture metal. All techniques will be demonstrated and discussed as we work. In the end you will have two pair of earrings that you have formed completely with your own hands. |

You will get a great introduction to basic metalsmithing skills in this class. The tools will be available for you to make all of the components in the fabricated portion of the necklace. Chain will be added to create a necklace that can be worn for all occasions, dress up or dress down. The washer links will be formed by using a disc cutting tool and you will learn to make your own jump rings. Endless fun hammering! |

Riveted Metal Etching Workshop Have no fear! Learn how to etch images on metal using Ferric Chloride, saw metal with a gentle no-pressure approach, and rivet with a wonderful new tool that makes riveting a breeze. First, you will etch three different metals with designs and textures. Then you will glide through the etched metal by sawing shapes or using a disc cutter to punch out circles. Learning how to saw metal will open up your design future to making any shape, no matter how complex. Refine your cut pieces to glowing perfection as you file them. Nearing the end, the different shapes are riveted together and then the components are assembled with jump rings. Finally, add a little color with beads at each junction. Come ready to work and learn a lot about metalsmithing techniques and tools in this fun day of jewelry making. |

In one day, students will learn the ins and outs of metal etching with Ferric Chloride and create a pendant and hook closure using two fabulous metalsmithing tools. This will be a busy day of learning a good number of metalsmithing techniques and then using those skills to create your pieces. This is a great introduction for any beader wanting to expand their jewelry-making skills. The beaded chain is not included in the kit. |

Riveting Rivets For A Pending Pendant This is a great class for the bead weaver or bead stringer that would like to acquire some metalsmithing skills. Students will select from various textured metals to create a pendant and hook closure. The techniques you will be able to try include sawing, filing, and using a disc cutter and riveting tool. Patina will be applied to the pendant and closure after the components are assembled. You can personalize and wear your pendant by adding your own beaded rope or strung beads. |
